En el mercado de segunda mano y gracias a internet, podemos encontrar casi cualquier cosa. Ya no nos sorprende que aparezcan modelos escondidos de hace lo menos 10 años sin siquiera matricular y con apenas 100 km en sus odómetros. Por eso, encontrar un BMW M5 e34 con solo 15.770 km no es nada extraño, lo que extraña es la locura de precio que piden por el.
Pero antes de meternos con el precio del coche que Autotrader tiene a la venta, vamos a repasar el porque el BMW M5 e34 podría ser un modelo interesante como ‘segunda mano’.
Todo BMW que lleve una M en su denominación ya es un coche apreciado a veces antes incluso de pisar la vía pública. La división M Motorsport se lo ha ganado a base de modelos que poco a poco se han ido convirtiendo en míticos. Pero dejando ésto de lado, tenemos varias cosas que pueden resultar muy interesante a día de hoy.
Un mito bajo el capó
Si por algo es famosa BMW M, es por sus motores de seis cilindros en linea atmosféricos, y este BMW M5 de 1993, equipa una de esas unidades tan apreciadas por aquellos que se consideran BMWistas. Se trata del seis cilindros en linea de aspiración natural que en este caso alcanza los 3,8 litros, pues desde 1992, los BMW M5 llevaban una segunda evolución del seis en línea que montaban los BMW 635 CSi e24. Suponía la tercera versión del M5 e34, con la primera de todas usando el motor casi sin cambios llegando a los 286 cv en 1989, pasando a los 315 cv de la segunda generación del M5 e34 y a los 340 cv desde 1992.
Bajo el código ‘S38B38’ y declarando esos 340 cv, se posicionaba como el M5 más potente de la generación e34, fabricada hasta 1995. Se decía en las pruebas de la época que era un tiro, con un funcionamiento muy suave y una respuesta a bajo y medio régimen muy buena gracias a las mariposas de control electrónico. No en vano, podía llegar a los 280 km/h, donde la electrónica lo paraba o bien, lanzar la aguja del velocimetro hasta los 295 km/h si le quitabas la limitación.
Un precio desorbitado
A pesar de que se trata de la versión más potente, con uno de los motores más emblemáticos de BMW y de que su estado, al menos viendo las fotos, es un espectáculo (solo fíjate en sus asientos), el dinero que pide su propietario me parece una locura.
Vale, su kilometraje es complicado de encontrar, y digo complicado por no decir imposible pues he mirado si podía encontrar algo parecido en España, siendo un ejercicio totalmente fútil, pero 95.000 dolares me parecen una pasada, pues según la web de BMW USA, el actual M5 parte de los 93.600 dolares. Si fuera un modelo realmente de colección como puede ser un BMW M1, podría entender semejante hachazo, pero el M5 e34 es el tercer modelo pre-2000 más apreciado tras el mencionado M1 y el M3 e30. Y ni siquiera es una edición especial…
En España, he podido encontrar un BMW M5 e34 Nurburgring Edition por 10.000 euros, es también una unidad de 1993 por lo que tiene 340 cv, aunque su kilometraje pasa por muchísimo, los 100.000 km. También he podido encontrar otro con el motor totalmente reconstruido por 9.000 euros y alguno que otro por unos 7.000 u 8.000 euros, pero con un kilometraje bastante elevado.
¿Te lo comprarías?
He podido ver muchas unidades a la venta en internet y ciertamente, no hay ninguna que tenga la planta que tiene éste. Los asientos son una pasada, nuevos completamente, los plásticos, la pintura e incluso las llantas, siempre expuestas a golpes contra los bordillos están impecables. Pero sigo pensando que no justifica la cifra pedida.
¿Vosotros lo compraríais? Yo desde luego que no. No es un modelo lo suficientemente carismático como para gastarme ese dineral, por ese precio me compro dos M3 e30 y uno lo preparo para rodar en circuito.
