Después de que viéramos algunas imágenes en forma de teaser hace unos días, hoy por fin se ha visto un prototipo real en el Salón de Los Ángeles. Así se muestra el nuevo Mercedes AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept, un prototipo de Mercedes-Benz que probablemente jamás llegue a las calles, pero que pone de manifiesto el poderío de los diseñadores de Stuttgart cuando no hay límites de por medio.
Se trata de un prototipo no funcional, a escala 1:1. Más bien es una maqueta, porque carece de motor. Mercedes se ha ahorrado la tarea de meterle un motor porque el coche solo fue diseñado para formar parte de los supercoches del nuevo Gran Turismo 6 para PlayStation 3.
En el juego, dispone de 577 caballos procedentes de un motor biturbo V8 con un par de 800 nm. Suficientes para catapultar este superdeportivo de poco más de 1300 kg hasta lo más alto. La distribución de pesos es del 46 % en el frontal y el 54% en la parte trasera, lo que sin duda convertirá al AMG Vision GT en un coche con un manejo y paso por curva excepcionales.
En cuanto a las dimensiones, estamos ante un coche que impone y mucho. Es muy largo y ancho, un poco lejano del diseño al que nos tiene acostumbrados Mercedes actualmente, pero realmente bonito, y que comparte la calandra frontal tipo diamante de los Clase A, pero iluminada por LEDs.
A pesar de ser un coche futurista, ha respetado muy bien las líneas de su bisabuelo, el icónico 300 SL. Si lo miramos desde atrás es muy fácil averiguar los orígenes en los que se inspira gracias a las curvas de los pasos de rueda tan marcados.
Sería difícil llevar a la calle a un coche así, con unas ruedas que casi carecen de goma, donde las grandes protagonistas son las enormes llantas. Otro de los elementos que sorprende es su alerón retráctil, que cuando se despliega es bastante voluminoso, pero que cuando permanece escondido desaparece por completo.
De hecho, aunque el coche carece de motor, el alerón va motorizado y la rejilla de LEDs frontal es funcional. Pero las puertas de ala de gaviota parece ser que no se pueden abrir, así que no sabemos demasiado de su interior. Sin embargo, Mercedes ha tenido el detalle de poner un maniquí vestido de piloto, que casualmente comparte el mono con el piloto que conduce nuestros coches en Gran Turismo.
