Los Reyes Magos se han adelantado para todos aquellos que estaban esperando la llegada de la versión más potente de la última generación del laureado MINI. Como no, hablamos del MINI John Cooper Works, que en esta nueva versión viene con la intención de no defraudar ni al más quemado de los pilotos. Y es que estamos hablando nada más y nada menos que del MINI más potente jamás construido en toda la historia de la marca si evidentemente dejamos cualquier modificación posterior al margen.
El motor del nuevo MINI John Cooper Works es el mismo cuatro cilindros 2.0 TwinPower Turbo estrenado en el último Mini Cooper S, pero su potencia ha sido incrementada hasta los 231 cv, lo que supone 20 cv más respecto a la anterior generación. Para sacar jugo a dicha potencia, el motor estará asociado a un cambio manual de seis velocidades, con el que acelera de 0 a 100 km/h en 6,3 segundos, alcanza los 246 km/h, y declara un consumo mixto de 6,7 litros a los 100 km. Opcionalmente, se podrá optar por una caja de cambios automática Steptronic de seis velocidades más que recomendable, ya que mejora tanto los registros de aceleración hasta los 6,1 segundos, como los de consumo, bajando a 5,7 l/100 km.
Además, para poder sacar el máximo jugo de tales prestaciones, tanto la versión manual como la automática estarán equipadas de serie con control dinámico de tracción, control electrónico de bloqueo del diferencial y el “Performance Control” que mejora el paso por curva del vehículo. Pero si esto te parece poco, opcionalmente también podrás equipar al MINI con un sistema de amortiguadores ajustables.
Pero como todo deportivo que se precie, el MINI John Cooper Works no sólo tiene que tener un motor potente, sino que exteriormente debe ser diferente a sus hermanos. Por eso, a este MINI será fácilmente reconocerlo frente a otros MINI más convencionales gracias a elementos como faldones delanteros, laterales y posteriores, el alerón trasero, las grandes entradas de aire frontales, las míticas franjas John Cooper Works en el capó y los distintivos de la parrilla, portón y laterales de la carrocería. También son específicos los faros con tecnología LED e intermitentes de color blanco, así como un exclusivo color denominado “Rebel Green” que le dará un toque, si cabe, más distinguido. Además, el MINI John Cooper Works está calzado de serie con una preciosas llantas de 17 pulgadas (opcionalmente podrán equiparse unas de 18 pulgadas) que dejan ver unos eficaces frenos Brembo.
Por su parte, en el interior también se mantiene el ambiente racing con volante deportivo, asientos exclusivos con los apoyacabezas integrados, palanca de cambios y consola central específica, embellecedores en las puertas, pedales de acero inoxidable y guarnecido del techo en tonos antracita.
Como vemos, esta nueva generación del MINI John Cooper Works se antoja como un pequeño deportivo más que apetitoso para quienes buscan diversión pura y dura tras el volante. Sin embargo, por el momento carecemos de datos sobre su precio definitivo, cosa que seguramente ocurra el próximo mes de enero. Seguro que más de uno estará esperando impaciente.
