Ayer mismo dio comienzo una nueva edición del Salón del Automóvil de Los Ángeles, y la marca norteamericana Chrysler no quiso perder la oportunidad de jugar en casa para dar a conocer la que será la nueva generación de uno de sus modelos más conocidos y admirados en estos últimos años: el Chrysler 300.
Lo cierto, es que junto al Chrysler Voyager, este modelo americano ha sido de los que más éxito ha tenido en nuestro mercado a lo largo del siglo XXI, tanto, que muchos vieron como un auténtico sacrilegio que el grupo Fiat lo comenzase a vender en Europa bajo la denominación de Lancia Thema tras haber absorbido a Chrysler.
Polémicas de nomenclaturas al margen, la nueva generación del Chrysler 300 viene a suponer una actualización notable frente a su predecesor. Para empezar, la línea exterior del coche no ha sufrido grandes transformaciones, siendo la más destacable la nueva parrilla delantera de mayor tamaño que ahora incorpora el logo de la marca en el centro, y los paragolpes delanteros de nuevo diseño.
En el interior, los cambios se centran en un volante de nuevas formas, una distinta configuración para los mandos de la climatización y un nuevo panel de instrumentos de lectura más fácil. Además, habrá un salto cualitativo en la calidad de los materiales empleados, algo que se echaba de menos en las anteriores generaciones, y la incorporación de una pantalla multifuncional de 7 pulgadas en el equipamiento de serie. Como opción, se puede optar por una pantalla más grande de 8,4 pulgadas que incorpora el sistema de información y entretenimiento Uconnect con conexión Wi-Fi para los pasajeros.
En cuanto a la oferta mecánica, ésta se dividirá en tres escalones diferentes. Para empezar, el bloque de acceso será un 3.6 V6 con una potencia de 296 cv asociado a un cambio automático de 8 velocidades y opcionalmente con tracción integral. Posteriormente, tendremos la variante 300 S, con el mismo bloque pero con una potencia incrementada hasta los 304 cv. Y como colofón, podremos optar por equipar al Chrysler 300 con un potente motor HEMI V8 de 5.7 litros y una potencia de 368 cv. Por desgracia, la anterior versión SRT de 465 cv no tendrá continuidad, de momento.
Por último, el Chrysler 300 estará disponible en tres versiones de equipamiento: Limited, S, y Platinum, que será el tope de gama. Se espera que salga a la venta en Estados Unidos en el año 2015, donde tendrá un precio que oscilará entre los 26.000 y los 35.000 euros, según versiones.
