Este fin de semana fueron las jornadas de la Renault Techno Experience en Barcelona, en el centro comercial Maremagnum, en pleno puerto de la ciudad condal. Entre otras muchas cosas, tuvimos la oportunidad de probar varios modelos de la gama 2014 de la marca francesa, y en este artículo os contaremos las primeras impresiones de una pequeña toma de contacto que hicimos con el renovado Renault Mégane 2014.

Como bien sabrás, la gama Renault Mégane 2014 fue presentada a principios de año, y no se trata de otra cosa que un pequeño lavado de cara sobre el modelo original, con una puesta al día en tecnología y la actualización de la calandra central, siguiendo el nuevo lenguaje de la marca.

El modelo que nosotros pudimos probar era el más equipado de todos, con el paquete Bose. Este paquete cuenta con una pintura en un azul Majorelle, llantas específicas de 17 pulgadas y equipo de sonido con altavoces Bose.

La motorización que equipaba este Mégane era el 1.5 dCi 110 cv con Stop & Start, que entrega un par máximo de 260 Nm. Su aceleración es bastante discreta, marcando el 0-100 km/h en 12,10 segundos, y consiguiendo una velocidad punta de 190 km/h. Otorga unos consumos homologados de 3,9 l/100 km en ciclo urbano, 3,2 l/100 km en ciclo extra-urbano y 3,5 l/100 km en ciclo mixto.

Como decimos, la prueba que hicimos por el centro de la ciudad no nos dio para hacer valoraciones a fondo, pero si para contar unas primeras sensaciones de lo que supone subirse a bordo en este renovado compacto.

Lo que más llama la atención es la calidad de materiales percibida, algo a remarcar de Renault, donde siempre han destacado por hacer unos interiores bastante parcos y con ajustes insuficientes. También hay que tener en cuenta que estamos ante un modelo que va hasta las cejas de extras, y eso se nota, en el volante, tapicería, etc.

El Mégane tiene unos ajustes correctos, sin llegar a ser premium que le sitúan un paso por detrás de sus competidores, que gozan de acabados de mayor calidad, como el Seat Leon o el Hyundai i30.

Además, este modelo iba equipado con el R-Link, el sistema de infoentretenimiento de Renault, que esta vez no era táctil, y se acciona desde un conjunto de botones en el túnel central, detrás del pomo de la palanca de cambios. El modelo que probamos también contaba con la cámara de aparcamiento trasero, que tan de moda se está poniendo últimamente. Ésta tiene una serie de guías que se mueven en función de la posición del volante y nos van indicando cuál será la línea que seguirá el coche en la maniobra de aparcamiento.

Siendo poco amigo de los diesel, he de reconocer que este nuevo motor dCi está bastante insonorizado y es realmente suave a bajas vueltas, cosa bastante destacable para un coche cuyo enfoque se aleja mucho de ser premium.

Lo que no me acabó de convencer es que cuente con tan poco empuje desde bajas vueltas, algo realmente raro de ver en un diesel. Sin embargo, a partir de las 2000 vueltas el empuje es contundente, y parece que lleva más de 110 caballos, a pesar de que su aceleración de 0 a 100 es bastante discreta. Empuja muy bien desde baja velocidad, pero se desinfla poco a poco.

Lo que menos gusta es el tacto del embrague, con poco margen de juego, y un casi nulo control sobre el engranaje de las marchas. Si no estás acostumbrado en llevar un gasolina es casi obligado que se te cale la primera vez, porque es un diesel con tacto de gasolina, algo realmente negativo. El punto de fricción está en la zona media del pedal, pero su margen de acople es de escasos centímetros, por lo que el final y el principio del pedal son prácticamente inútiles.

La palanca de cambios, sin llegar a ser poco precisa, tiene un tacto duro y extraño que no transmite confianza a la hora de hacer el cambio de marchas. De hecho, lo peor es que los recorridos son excesivamente cortos, tanto que hay veces que no sabemos qué marcha estamos engranando. Será cuestión de acostumbrarse.

Este nuevo Renault Mégane llega renovado para seguir dando guerra entre la competencia, y buena prueba de ello es que es el modelo que más se vende en nuestro país. Su precio realmente competitivo y el generoso equipamiento con el que cuenta lo convierten en un best seller entre el público. Este restyle ya marca su final de ciclo de vida, siendo presentada la Fase IV en uno o dos años.

Una de las cosas más destacables es el ridículo consumo de este motor, que sin llegar a acercarse a las cifras oficiales, habiendo sido conducido por decenas de personas previamente a nosotros —las cuales nunca hicieron conducción eficiente—, los consumos no subieron de 5 l/100 km en ningún momento, lo que es para quitarse el sombrero habiendo hecho un trayecto 100% urbano.
