De la localidad checa de Kvasiny, donde Skoda tiene una planta de montaje, salió el pasado 22 de abril la primera unidad del SEAT Ateca, uno de los modelos más esperados del segmento SUV y uno de los más importantes para la firma afincada en Martorell. Llega en el momento oportuno, cuando más tirón tienen el mercado y con suficientes bazas como para convertirse en el nuevo Rey, destronando al intocable Nissan Qashqai.
SEAT ha dado el todo por el todo con este coche, lo necesita como el comer para generar beneficios, aunque resulte ya un poco cansino ver tanto SUV por la carretera. Pero el mercado manda, la gente quiere un SUV y SEAT, sin que ni siquiera hayan llegado las unidades al concesionario, ha vendido más de 700 unidades, más de la mitad de ellas sin que el cliente las haya visto en vivo y mucho menos, haya podido probarlas. Las primeras 500 unidades se vendieron hace semanas…
Por ahora, ningún otro producto de SEAT ha sido capaz de conseguir tantas reservas antes incluso de comenzar con sus ventas, el Ateca promete ser un éxito. El propio Mikel Palomera reconoce que el éxito ha sido muy superior al esperado y que está siendo muy superior a cualquier otro lanzamiento de la marca. Muchos pensarán que es porque se trata de un SUV, pero el Ateca es mucho más que eso, fíjate en su imagen, es mucho más atractivo que cualquier otro modelo de SEAT desde sus versiones más bajas, algo que en la marca debería mejorar para futuras ocasiones.
Viendo las fotos del Ateca recuerdo muchos comentarios de aficionados y seguidores de la marca sobre su imagen, en ocasiones un tanto cutre y lejos de lo que finalmente ofrecen sus coches, pues no es nada nuevo si afirmo que su comportamiento y talante dinámico está entre los mejores. Pero falta mejorar la imagen y el Ateca llega precisamente a solucionar eso, a mejorar esa imagen que tiene la firma española.
Además, el SEAT Ateca ha sido desarrollado al 100% en las instalaciones de la marca en Martorell, aunque comparte elementos con el Volkswagen Tiguan, algo casi obligatorio en el Grupo Volkswagen-Audi, más ahora que se acercan vacas flacas por culpa del ‘dieselgate’.
SEAT se adentra en un mercado completamente desconocidos para ellos, y lo hace con cierto desparpajo y hasta con prepotencia, ofreciendo el modelo con precios que parten de los 18.000 euros y versiones que llegan a los 190 CV, tracción total cambio DSG. La marca española va a por todas y aunque no soy precisamente un defensor de los SUV, tras probar coches como el Renegade de JEEP y el RAV4 Hybrid de Toyota tengo mucha curiosidad por ver qué ha hecho SEAT con este coche.
Han invertido muchísimo tiempo en este coche, según la propia marca, 1.400 días desde el primer boceto hasta el último detalle una vez en la fábrica y de dinero mejor no hablemos. Es un modelo estratégico que si continúa por el mismo camino, puede colocarse como uno de los grandes no ya del segmento, sino dentro de la historia de la marca.
