Hace unas semanas que Volkswagen nos presentaba la versión híbrida enchufable del Golf, el Golf GTE. Pues bien, hoy han hecho lo mismo para su nueva berlina del segmento D, presentándonos el nuevo Passat GTE. Se trata de la octava generación de este superventas en Europa, y podremos verlo en el Salón de París en los próximos días.

Estamos ante el primer Passat híbrido de la historia, ya que hasta ahora lo más cercano que teníamos en Volkswagen híbridos era el Jetta, que tiene unas ventas marginales en nuestro país, y más aún en su versión híbrida, que a mi personalmente me encanta. Lo mejor de los híbridos enchufables, como es el caso del Passat GTE es que pueden ser eléctricos puros para distancias cortas, y comportarse como híbridos clásicos en viajes largos, por lo que obtenemos lo mejor de ambos mundos, sin renunciar a la autonomía de un coche de motor térmico.

En el frontal del Passat GTE destaca una parrilla cromada especifica con de perfil azul y un parachoques que integra la luz diurna LED. Recordemos que el azul es el color de la e-movilidad de Volkswagen y, junto con la luz de conducción diurna en forma de C, constituye un rasgo distintivo de todos los modelos eléctricos e híbridos enchufables de Volkswagen.

Para diferenciar a un Passat GTE de uno normal tendremos que buscar las llantas de aleación ligera de 17 pulgadas del tipo Astana específicas para este modelo, y los emblemas GTE en la parrilla frontal, las aletas y el portón del maletero. En la rejilla frontal también nos encontraremos con el compartimento donde está el enchufe de carga.

GTE además de híbrido enchufable, lleva la deportividad en sus genes, y por eso podríamos denominarlo la versión híbrida de un GTI, ya que no tiene nada que envidiar en prestaciones a un GTI de pura sangre. El sistema híbrido se compone de un motor térmico TSI de inyección directa y un motor eléctrico que se alimenta del sistema de baterías de iones de litio de 9,9 kWh. Gracias a éstas, tendremos la posibilidad de hacer recorridos en modo 100% eléctrico durante 50 km.

Además, podremos seleccionar el modo eléctrico E-Mode manualmente a través de un botón, para por ejemplo aprovecharnos al máximo de las baterías cuando estemos en ciudad, que es donde más consume un motor térmico. En el lado contrario tenemos el modo GTE, que saca el deportivo que este Passat lleva dentro, y nos ofrece la máxima potencia, hace más sensible el tacto del acelerador y vuelve la dirección más deportiva.

El interior también se ha adaptado al sistema de propulsión híbrido. Para ello el cuadro de instrumentos se ha rediseñado, cambiando el clásico cuentarrevoluciones por un potenciómetro Powermeter que nos enseña la potencia que está siendo usada en cada momento. El sistema de infoentretenimiento Composition Media también se ha adaptado especialmente a las funciones para el sistema híbrido enchufable. Los detalles estéticos también cambian, como la iluminación ambiental de color azul, el volante multifunción con costuras de color azul, el pomo de la palanca de cambios con costuras azules y asientos con tapicería de tela del tipo «Sevilla» con una estructura base de color azul.

La potencia combinada es de 218 caballos y Volkswagen nos promete una autonomía total entre baterías y un depósito de gasolina —de 50 litros de capacidad— de 1000 km. El motor es un 1.4 TSI de 156 cv a partir de las 5000 rpm. El motor eléctrico tiene una potencia de 115 cv, y en conjunto con el motor térmico entrega un par máximo de 400 Nm. El consumo medio homologado bajo el ciclo para híbridos NCCE es de menos de 2,0 l/100 km y 13 kWh/100 km. Así, las emisiones de CO2 son inferiores a 45 g/km.

En modo eléctrico podemos alcanzar hasta 130 km/h, por lo que podremos hacer viajes en carretera también sin consumir ni una gota de gasolina. Funcionando en modo híbrido llegaremos hasta 220 km/h de velocidad máxima. El Passat GTE es de tracción delantera y cambio automático DSG de seis velocidades, y tiene una aceleración de 0 a 100 km/h de menos de 8 segundos.

Motor del Volkswagen Passat GTE

Podremos elegirlo en versiones berlina y Variant, y llegará al mercado en la segunda mitad de 2015, convirtiéndose así en el quinto Volkswagen capaz de moverse sin gastar una gota de gasolina, después del XL1, el e-up!, el e-Golf y el Golf GTE. Estará disponible con nueve propulsores diferentes, de entre 125 caballos y 280 caballos, cumpliendo todos ellos la norma Euro 6.
